Everything was red.
It hurt.
It hurt.
She could only hope that the words she had said were delievered.
He had better tell Riley. Or else….
There would be no one to speak of her.
Pain spread throughout her body.
She was finally dying. Her words, that she had wanted so desperately to say, were out there.
He had to spread her word.
Or else, she would surely rise from her grave and slaughter him.
[She smiled.]
“Good night, world.”
And with that, the world came to a resounding stop around her, and everything went completely red, like the curtains closing at the end of a play. The only difference was that today, the play was her life.
[Good night.]

Someone was moving towards her.
They probably had a weapon. They probably weren’t injured from the looks of it. They would attack.
No!
Until I can fulfill the promise I made to myself… I won’t let this happen!
“STOP!! Please… Stop…..!”
She shouldn’t have yelled. It hurt. Her whole body was aching.
“Please… Let me…. At least……”
She couldn’t finish the sentence. Her body had lost all will to move.
“Please….” Her voice had quieted to a whimper.
“I don’t want to win… I… I’m not a threat…”
Could they even hear her?? They were closer, so maybe.
“I’m going to die anyways… Please…. Hear me out…”
She was crying. How many times had she cried so far? Where was the emotionless, strong Karen? Whatever happened to her?
The tears did not stop. It was cold. She was alone, with a potential enemy, bleeding to death.
They’d probably just finish her off without a second thought.
“Please….!”
He’d just been getting his axe out, ready to finish her off, but she was begging.
She was begging.
What was the point in that? She was going to die anyway, and now she was asking him to prolong her suffering? He shrugged and took a more neutral stance, assuming that she had a good reason for being so… Weird.
“Alright, then, why shouldn’t I kill you?” he asked, keeping his distance. While he didn’t think she was in any position to try and pull some trick, there was always a chance and he couldn’t let her take it.
Deciding to change his mind on the stance he was in, Saturn brandished his axe at her. He meant business. It didn’t matter if he had to tear through every last person on this bloody island, he was determined to do so. She had no reason to expect help, which was actually the reason he was hearing her out. He’d probably just kill her afterwards.
“I never said you didn’t have to kill me. Only one can survive. I have people I want to survive-“
Her thoughts went to Riley. Please, let him be ok.
“I merely stated I wanted you to hear me out.”
She thought of everything that happened. She thought about attacking Archer. About being attacked by Lucy. About Riley, his face streaked with tears and blood, now lost somewhere on the island.
…
[She took a deep breath.]
“For starters… Lucy’s out there somewhere. She’s snapped. She’s the one who… did… This to me. Watch out.”
[She paused.]
“My entire life.. I’ve been a terrible person. Before it was even necessary.. I killed. I watched people bleed out for my own amusement.”
[She laughed bitterly. It hurt, much like everything else.]
“I love so many people. Maybe I’m just so fucked up I thought hurting people would bring them closer… No one cares about me, nor do they have any reason too. I show no emotion half the time, I’m condescending…. I really don’t deserve to live.”
Here come the tears again.
“If I don’t tell someone… No one will know, right?”
Pathetic.
“I care. I care so much… And no one will ever know. Not one person would want me to survive this.”
Unless Riley did. But his choice wasn’t important. What was important was that he lived.
“I exist… And I want people to know. To remember Karen, the stupid elite 4 who hid her feelings so no one would know them till after she died.”
[She paused.]
“I want to serve as a warning… And I want everyone to know they’re loved… Everyone I hurt. Tell them I’m sorry.”
[She was crying so much more now.]
“And….”
The most important thing.
“If you see Riley.. Please tell him…. That…. “
What was it she wanted to say… What was the emotion that she seeked to express to him..?
“Tell him… That I care for him… And if he dies I’ll punch him in the afterlife.”
…
“You can.. Go ahead and kill me now. That’s all I wanted to say.”
It was fading.
Was she passing out again? Was she dying?
She couldn’t tell.
But…
I don’t want to die.
Not without something to leave behind for everyone.
She wasn’t experienced in medical care, but she knew a thing or two. She could probably bandage the cut with fabric from her clothes, but as a result, she’d go cold. But then…. She knew she was going to die. From the very beginning she knew. She just needed to say goodbye.
She needed everyone to know she existed. That Karen of the elite four had lived. That she had died.
That’s all she wanted.
[She removed her shirt.]
It hurt. Moving hurt. But it would have to hurt for her to live.
[Fashioning the fabric into a ghetto type of bandage, she wraps it around herself, over the wound.]
Shirtless, bleeding, cold. Not to mention the wound would probably get infected, lest she was incredibly lucky.
“Everyone…..”
Where would a dead woman write down everything she needed to say? Was there any paper large enough to write every regret, every hidden emotion?
No.
[She stood up.]
She would die anyways.
She would get out of here. Weaponless or not, it didn’t matter. She was a dead woman walking.
But she would find someone to carry her final will.
Someone, willing or not, would make sure that she was real.
And with that, she exited the shack.
It was difficult to walk.
But sitting around, doing anything, waiting for someone to finish her off, or to die quietly…
She couldn’t do that.
Not anymore.
The Karen who idly waited for her death has already died.
And from her ashes rose the new Karen, who wouldn’t accept failure.
I will not die.
Not until I can ensure my existence.
I’m here.
There was a shack he could hide in for a while.
Saturn walked towards it, whistling to himself. He hadn’t really suffered any damage yet, and the reality of the situation hadn’t sunk in properly. But, still, he was aware that shelter was a good thing, as long as nobody was in there.
Oh shit.
Seeing somebody stagger out, Saturn quickly hid behind a tree, calming himself down. Was he about to physically murder someone? Or worse, be killed himself? Peeking round, he could see that the woman was heavily wounded- even through her clothes there was blood pooling. She was suffering.
This would be a piece of cake.
Checking around him for anybody else that might interfere, Saturn made his way towards her. She couldn’t run, most likely, she didn’t have any obvious weapons… He was pretty sure that he was safe.
Someone was moving towards her.
They probably had a weapon. They probably weren’t injured from the looks of it. They would attack.
No!
Until I can fulfill the promise I made to myself… I won’t let this happen!
